Main Responsibilities
- Teaching English 12 and AP English language and Composition with 25 lessons per week
- Provide a detailed syllabus for class schedules throughout the school year with lessons based on testing standards and school missions.
- Teaching students according to their individual educational needs, including the appropriate classroom setting and providing feedback on homework carried out by students.
- Assisting with duties assigned by the English Department Head
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on the attendance, academic progress, classroom behavior and keeping electronic records as required.
- Maintaining discipline according to school rules, and to encourage good practice of punctuality, behavior, standards of homework assignment and collaborative learning as well as self-learning skills.
- Marking and grading students work and give timely verbal/written feedback.
- Engaging students in active class instructions or discussions.
- Work with Department of College Counseling and other departments to integrate college-related skills (i.e. personal statement writing, interviewing, etc.) and testing (TOFEL, SAT, etc.) into school curricula.
- Meet school targets for midterm and final examinations.
- Writing school recommendation for senior students for college application and summer school purposes.
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students to mentor them through school life and activities.
- Attend all meetings, events, student admission activities and interviews held in school.
- Mentoring a student club activity (upon availability), may be optional.
- Turning in lesson plans, exams and work reports on time to Academic Dean’s office.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college/university in relevant subject.
- Teaching certificates.
Experience
- Background in related subject teaching is preferred, with 5+ years experience preferred.
- Ease and experience with computers, Internet, emails, and proficient typing abilities in English.
- Knowledge of relevant applications including MS Office, MS Excel, and any teaching platform such as SchoolPal.
